The Customs Specialist will manage the day-to-day import and export operations to ensure full compliance with CBSA (Canada) and CBP (USA) regulations. You will be responsible for the accuracy of HS classifications, trade documentation, and acting as the primary liaison between the company and customs brokers.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze product specifications to assign correct Harmonized System (HS) codes and ensure accurate duty payments
Review and prepare commercial invoices, B3/B13 forms, and Certificates of Origin (CUSMA/USMCA)
Audit broker entries for accuracy and resolve any border clearance delays or "Notice of Redelivery" issues
Maintain digital compliance records and assist in periodic internal audits to mitigate the risk of AMPS (Administrative Monetary Penalty System) fines
Administer duty drawback programs or tariff relief applications where applicable
Provide internal guidance to the Logistics and Procurement teams regarding landed costs and regulatory changes
Requirements:
College Diploma (DEC) in Logistics, International Trade, or Business Administration
2–4 years of experience in customs brokerage or a corporate trade compliance role
CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designation is highly preferred
Bilingualism (French/English) is mandatory
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables)
