The Customs Operations Specialist is responsible for securing that all declarations are accurate, complete and made in compliance with local requirements and regulations as well as with internal controls. He/She will be partnering with key stakeholders to secure all cross-border shipments can be imported/exported compliantly, including alignment with Supply Chain Security requirements. The role involves handling documentation, securing accurate and timely customs declarations, ensuring compliance, and contributing to process improvements.
Job Responsibility:
Daily handling of information and documents to or from other IKEA units, external service providers and authorities to ensure timely, accurate and compliance in bond, declaration/entry and release from authorities for imports and exports
Secure customs relevant data and documents are available on time to secure the timely release of exports, including issuance and maintenance of certificates of origin, free trade agreement (FTA) documents, exporter certificates, licenses, attestations, etc.
Prepare and consolidate necessary data for the customs declarations and submit it to brokers or Customs authorities
Secure compliance in every customs declaration by identifying, performing analysis, investigations, and acting to resolve inaccuracies and deviations
Stay updated on customs operational processes, data, documents, and requirements
Identify and share new ways of working to contribute and initiate operational efficiencies, recommending solution enhancements, and implementing improvements
Update standard operating procedures/working routines
Maintain competence and knowledge about customs regulatory rules and legislation, goods flow, and customs systems/solutions
Support other tasks and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Previous experience and knowledge regarding Romanian import and export rules and regulations and how to apply them to business goals and daily operations
Experience in working with Romanian customs authorities
Ability to organize and manage daily assignments and tasks according to priorities and deadlines
Strong analytical skills
Proven ability to deliver results by being both compliant and efficient
Experience maintaining and using KPI’s/metrics to manage and improve operations and processes
High knowledge and skills in the use of Microsoft Office
Previous experience or knowledge in working with or within supply chain operations
Understanding of working in a routine-based environment
Knowledge or understanding of working in a process-oriented business structure and environment
University degree or equivalent experience
Fluency in English and Romanian are a must (written and oral).
