As a Customs Import Specialist, you will be the gatekeeper of our international supply chain. Your primary mission is to ensure that all imported goods comply with federal regulations while minimizing duties and avoiding costly delays. You will act as the technical expert on HTS classifications, valuation, and trade agreements, bridging the gap between global suppliers and government agencies.
Job Responsibility:
Process and review files pending quality control to ensure compliance and accuracy
Maintain and update client databases to support efficient customs clearance
Monitor deadlines and ensure timely release of files
Respond to client inquiries and follow up on missing or incomplete information
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve operational issues
Support client onboarding and maintain accurate client profiles
Contribute to team development by training colleagues and identifying/correcting data errors
Requirements:
Experience with ITM (Descartes) and/or document management systems
Strong knowledge of the customs clearance process, including Canadian regulations, classification and valuation rules
Computer proficiency: Office suite, including Excel
Analysis and problem solving: ability to evaluate methodologies, adapt the approach and deploy technical solutions in a variety of situations
Advanced client service skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, anticipate client needs, and deliver responsive, solution-oriented support
Advanced ability to analyze complex situations, anticipate challenges, and manage priorities independently
