We are seeking a highly motivated Logistics & Trade Compliance Coordinator for our client in Mississauga. The Ideal candidate will take full ownership of cross-border supply chain operations. You will be the primary architect of import/export processes, ensuring 100% customs compliance while aggressively optimizing freight costs between Canada and the USA. This is a standalone position designed for a self-starter who thrives on operational independence and has the technical expertise to manage everything from Harmonized Tariff classifications to carrier contract negotiations. Job Responsibility:
Prepare all documentation required for import/export including BOL, packing List, Commercial Invoice Certificate of Origin, etc
Arranging transport of import and export FTL and LTL shipments within and between Canada and the USA
Oversee the customs compliance program and related trade regulations for imports and exports. Act as the primary contact to customers.
Keep updated on industry changes in Canada, US, Globally.
Maintain detailed records and reports of costs associated with logistics, including, but not limited to shipping, storage, duties & tariffs, brokerage fees.
Remain responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of the movement of shipments, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
Utilize Customer Web portals to book shipments.
Prepare and/or send advance notification of shipments and documents to shippers, consignees, and destination offices, as required and within Company standards.
Communicating shipment details with customers and agents
Liaison between production, sales and purchasing to ensure all delivery dates are met.
Keep detailed records of all inbound / outbound material.
Selecting carriers and negotiating contracts and rates. Champion cost reduction initiatives (use of long-term agreements for carriers, brokerage, etc.)
Arranging local pickups and deliveries.
Approval of invoices pertaining to assigned shipments. Audit of all invoices & timely resolution of discrepancies
Provide AP with all documentation to close received orders
Assist AP with resolving supplier invoice discrepancies.
Requirements:
Experience working with Freight Forwarders and Filing Agents
Knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule
Background in Canada / US trade compliance
Experience working with a Global Trade Management Tool such as Integration Point/ONESOURCE
Strong understanding of Road, Rail, Air, Ocean, intermodal, etc.
Experience in importing / Clearing Ocean shipping containers
Skilled with ERP systems
Proficient with Microsoft Suite
particularly MS Excel and Outlook.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills, ability to organize own work effectively, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
Motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
