The Customs Clerk is responsible for verifying commercial invoices and documents for customs clearance, communicating with brokers and suppliers, and ensuring the follow-up of post-customs declarations. They use the CARM portal and participate in various projects related to customs operations.
Job Responsibility:
Verify the description of each style on commercial invoices (incoterms, values, deductions, TT vs. certificate of origin, etc.) and send documents to the customs broker to obtain clearance
Communicate regularly with the customs broker
Verify received customs declarations and approve them for the finance department
Identify errors and necessary adjustments, then follow up on B2 forms
Compile additional supplier invoices in an Excel file and declare them to customs
Approve brokerage invoices
Track surpluses and shortages per shipment and declare them to customs
Know and navigate the CBSA CARM portal, daily check notices posted on the portal
Support the finance department by answering their questions and generate financial reports for internal audits
Participate in various projects (e.g., D365, customs audit)
Stay up to date on regulatory changes to ensure compliance
Perform any other related tasks
Requirements:
Proficiency in MS Office 365, with an intermediate level in Excel
College diploma or CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) certification
1 years of experience in a similar position (customs brokerage, importing)
Knowledge of HS tariff codes
Intermediate level English
