Job Responsibility

  • Ensure full compliance with UK customs regulations, international trade laws, and export control requirements
  • Implement and maintain UK commodity codes (tariff classifications) and coordinate their integration into global systems
  • Manage preferential trade agreements (e.g. rules of origin under UK and international trade agreements) in collaboration with OEMs and suppliers
  • Oversee export control processes in line with UK and international regulations
  • Assess customs and trade implications for imports, serial production, and relocation projects, identifying risks and cost-saving opportunities
  • Obtain Long-Term Supplier Declarations (LTSDs) from suppliers and issue origin declarations to customers
  • Prepare and manage all import and export processes using internal customs and trade compliance systems
  • Work closely with central logistics, external brokers, and relevant authorities such as HM Revenue & Customs
  • Support duty optimisation and ensure efficient customs procedures to minimise costs and delays
  • Act as a key contact for customs and international trade matters across internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification or training in customs, international trade, or logistics (e.g. Customs Practitioner, Freight Forwarding, or equivalent)
  • 3–5 years of experience in customs operations, international trade, or export control within the UK or a comparable environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK customs legislation, tariff classification (commodity codes), rules of origin, and export control regulations
  • Familiarity with customs software solutions (preferably MIC – Customs Filing, Classification, Origin Calculation, Export Control)
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented working approach
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and with external partners
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including logistics teams, suppliers, customers, and government authorities

  • Provide general administrative support including data entry to specialized software designed to track inventory within the Foreign Trade Zone
  • Review of inbound import documentation and daily maintenance of data flowing through the Foreign Trade zone software
  • Resolution of any discrepancies between documentation, the zone software and in house inventory system
  • FTZ daily, weekly and monthly reporting as required by US Customs
  • Liaise with Traffic, Warehouse and Order Management departments to monitor incoming imports and expedite in bond movement of freight to the FTZ
  • Reviews commercial shipping documentation for accuracy and compliance with Customs requirements
  • Audit FTZ admittances in the zone software by cross checking shipping documentation and warehouse receipts, complete error resolution reports, correct discrepancies, and confirm any needed corrections take place in the ERP system
  • Timely filing of weekly and periodic reports (214’s, 3461’s, 7501’s, 7512’s…etc) as required by US Customs and Foreign Trade Zone Board
  • Organize and maintain all required documents for Customs prescribed record keeping requirements
