Job Description:

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion MultiPurpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Job Responsibility:

  • Interface with operations and flow management for Logistics support needs and statuses
  • Identify critical items needed to support processing
  • Track critical items on the Logistics Hotboard and Critical Items Listing
  • Generate shipping requests for customers
  • Coordinate with Property/Transportation/Packing and Crating/Freight Traffic for shipments
  • Monitor shortages, provide shortage status, and provide mitigation support for parts/material shortages
  • Coordinates Logistics requirements to include supply support, packaging, handling, storage, and transportation requirements for customers
  • Applies knowledge of customer requirements, supplier capabilities, product configuration, manufacturing processes and documentation, and governmental regulations
  • Acts as a liaison to expedite issues of kits, spares, loans, or transfers needed to support operations
  • Takes ownership, from a Logistics perspective, ensuring required parts/material are available and issued to required customer
  • Supports COMET engineering, operations, and shops through research of available materials, suggested alternate materials, and requirements definition for materials to be procured
  • Acts as an effective liaison with internal organizations and external organizations/agencies
  • Successfully communicates and presents technical and non-technical information to management and customers
  • Proactively works issues with supply chain, including issues across multiple areas
  • Identifies and supports process improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) and at least two years of related experience
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and customer interface skills required
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Experience with MS Office: Word, Excel, PP, Outlook required
  • May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting
  • Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment
  • Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures
  • Must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency
  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management

  • Evaluate technical documents—such as engineering change proposals, operational logistics support plans, configuration management plans, technical order manuals, training support packages, integrated support logistics plans, data plans, and procurement plans—to ensure compliance with program objectives and plans
  • Assess engineering change proposal (ECP) process workflows from sponsor submission through approval, procurement, testing, and installation
  • Support developmental assignments across system life cycle phases, delivering logistics management and operational program analysis
  • Analyze system and equipment performance data to identify and resolve technical or procedural gaps
  • Define integrated supportability requirements during system engineering to ensure logistics considerations are embedded in the acquisition process
  • Participate in system requirements and design reviews, identifying and integrating logistics support needs
  • Ensure logistics provisions are appropriately planned, developed, and executed to identify, prevent, and correct unsatisfactory conditions throughout the lifecycle
