We are looking for a Customer Service Representative to support daily order processing and customer communication for a Contract position based in Montville, New Jersey. In this role, you will help ensure orders move smoothly from entry through shipment while providing timely updates on inventory, delivery timing, and related billing information. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, a service-focused approach, and the ability to stay organized in a busy, team-oriented environment.
Job Responsibility
Review incoming customer orders for completeness, confirm product availability, and enter accurate details into the company’s accounting system
Communicate with customers regarding order progress, shipping timelines, freight costs, and credit-related matters in a clear and timely manner
Coordinate closely with warehouse and operations teams to support accurate fulfillment and maintain alignment on inventory levels
Prepare shipping paperwork, including bills of lading, and provide freight rate information for outbound deliveries
Investigate and process transportation claims involving damaged goods while keeping documentation current and organized
Generate sales orders, invoices, and credit memos for returns, ensuring records are complete and properly maintained
Maintain structured electronic and cloud-based filing systems for customer transactions, inventory documents, and related records
Respond promptly to purchase orders, phone inquiries, and customer messages while delivering current inventory information as needed
Requirements
At least 1 year of experience in customer service, order processing, logistics support, billing, or a similar function
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced work environment
Strong accuracy and attention to detail when handling data entry, documentation, and customer records
Solid organizational skills with the ability to maintain orderly files and dependable recordkeeping practices
Working knowledge of invoicing, returns, and credit memo processing
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning or using accounting software
Effective problem-solving skills and a clear communication style for customer and team interactions
Ability to collaborate well with cross-functional teams, including warehouse and operations staff
