Job Description

We are looking for a Customer Relations Representative to support a busy customer service team in San Diego, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who communicates clearly, stays organized under pressure, and enjoys helping customers through time-sensitive situations. In this role, you will respond to inbound inquiries, document claim-related details with accuracy, and work closely with internal teams to ensure each issue is handled efficiently and professionally.

Job Responsibility

  • Respond to incoming calls related to injury report intake and gather complete, accurate information for claim setup
  • Enter customer and claim details into internal platforms with a strong focus on precision and timely processing
  • Use attentive listening and thoughtful follow-up questions to understand concerns and provide effective support
  • Route inquiries to the correct teams or elevate more complex matters when additional review or action is needed
  • Partner with internal departments to help resolve service issues and improve the customer experience
  • Build knowledge of company procedures, service standards, and compliance expectations to handle calls confidently
  • Identify potential service delays or workflow concerns and communicate them to Customer Care leadership as appropriate
  • Follow established policies, training guidance, supervisory direction, and applicable regulations in daily work

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in customer service, administrative support, or a related role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to address customer concerns with professionalism, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience performing data entry and maintaining accurate, well-organized records
  • Ability to coordinate with internal teams and escalate issues appropriately when needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required

  • Familiarity with inbound call handling, claim administration, or similar customer support functions is preferred

  • Builds and maintains local and regional relationships including elected officials, government administrations, community and business stakeholders to foster two-way communications
  • Represents the Sewer District at events with local and regional government agencies, community stakeholders, local and national organizations
  • Advises all departments regarding the Sewer District’s interest in local government affairs
  • Facilitates internal communications between relevant departments to maintain coordinated Sewer District-wide government affairs activities
  • Oversees the department’s workforce development programs and student initiatives, including all associated contracts
  • Leads and coaches program managers as needed
  • Oversees customer relations communication channels for effective, seamless and targeted approach to customer contact at all levels
