Job Description:

We currently have an opportunity available for a Customer Manager – Discount Department Stores to join the Home care, Beauty & Wellbeing & Personal Care team based in North Rocks. As the Customer Manager, you will be externally focused and lead the Discount Department Store portfolio. The Customer Manager will be responsible for developing strong working relationships with Senior Customer contacts. You are responsible for the P&L of the Unilever business, including turnover, profitability, trade spend and Market share delivery, whilst building, negotiating and executing the commercial joint business plan with the Customer.

Job Responsibility:

  • Delivery of Turnover, Customer Profitability and TTS budgets for allocated categories within Customer Channel
  • Develop strong relationships with both internal (e.g. Category Manager, Shopper Insights Managers) & external customers (e.g. Category Managers, Trading Managers, Category Directors Buyers)
  • With Customer Marketing Manager, deliver in store activation events as defined by company Pulsing Plan
  • Develop & deliver Joint Business Plans with the Customer
  • Develop and deliver promotional plan within Customer
  • Day to day administration and evaluation of product portfolio e.g. Promotional Evaluation, inputs to S&OP
  • Discuss and agree Gap Filling initiatives with Category Team
  • Lead range and merchandising reviews (where appropriate), working in collaboration with the Category Managers, Range & Merchandisers and Head of Platinum Partnership
  • Work with CBM and Customer Director to develop and deliver Local Customer Strategy Plan for customer
  • Deliver key Category Team initiatives at Customer e.g. Price Increases, Brand Activation, NPD etc
  • Work with Customer Service Team to ensure customer service issues are resolved efficiently
  • Own the short-term volume and spend forecast aligned to S&OP process for their allocated categories

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated business experience, preferably cross-functional
  • FMCG experience is a plus
  • Strong customer facing experience and proven track record is a must
  • Proven people management/development capabilities
  • Experience in Customer Marketing, Trade Category Management and Account Management or Field Sales roles
  • Must be willing to work part-time (3 days a week)

  • Manage pre/during/post show logistics and administrative tasks such as booth ordering, furniture rentals, AV needs, and vendor coordination for trade shows, roadshows, executive dinners, and more
  • Track key deadlines (forms, shipping windows, payments) to keep every event on schedule and on budget
  • Coordinate event registration processes, attendee communications, and on-site support
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Revenue teams for their customer-facing events, ensuring they have the right collateral, swag, and setup
  • Partner with the Events & Field Marketing team on national conferences, regional trade shows, and special activations
  • Oversee all branded merchandise (“swag”) processes, including sourcing, ordering, vendor negotiations, and quality control
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure timely restocking to support multiple events simultaneously
  • Collaborate with brand and design teams on creative, on-brand merchandise concepts
