We are looking for a compassionate Customer Experience Specialist to join a mission-driven non-profit organization in San Diego, California. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting community members, handling high-volume inbound inquiries, and connecting people with meaningful services and resources. In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact, delivering thoughtful assistance while maintaining accurate records and working closely with internal teams to ensure each interaction is handled with care and consistency.
Job Responsibility:
Manage incoming calls and respond to questions with clear, helpful guidance tailored to each individual’s needs
Record client interactions thoroughly and accurately within web-based platforms and customer management systems
Direct callers to appropriate programs, benefits, or community resources based on the nature of their inquiries
Partner with internal departments to coordinate next steps and support timely resolution of service needs
Maintain current knowledge of organizational offerings, referral options, and support resources to provide informed assistance
Deliver a consistently attentive and empathetic experience across phone and digital communication channels
Use call center and CRM tools effectively to track activity, update records, and support daily service operations
Requirements:
At least 1 year of experience in customer service, call center operations, or a related support environment
Associate’s degree preferred
additional post-secondary education combined with relevant experience will also be considered
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive conversations effectively
Experience using web-based applications, chat tools, and Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with customer service or contact center systems such as CRM platforms and inbound call tools is highly valued
Background in non-profit services, public health, social work, psychology, sociology, criminology, or similar fields is preferred
Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is strongly preferred
