The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a full-time Custodian for the Facilities Management Program in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position provides professional, cost-effective management and operations of WYDOT facilities to ensure they are well-maintained, safe, attractive, and comfortable for occupants, customers, visitors, and citizens.
Job Responsibility:
Maintains a safe and healthy environment
Introduces new cleaning methods
Reports injuries or incidents
Assists with emergency evacuations
General cleaning (vacuuming, emptying trash, dusting, washing windows/mirrors, cleaning restrooms)
Snow removal around building
Security of doors and windows
Buffing and burnishing floors
Treating floor drains
Inspects fire extinguishers monthly
Laundering cleaning towels
Sweeps sidewalks and empties cigarette urns
Sets up meeting rooms
Operates heavy-duty scrubbing, shampooing/extracting, and wet/dry pick-up equipment
Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies
Selects and mixes cleaning compounds
Plans objectives for assigned buildings
Operates and maintains machinery
Empties recycling bins
Performs ground maintenance (mowing, weeding, tree/shrub/flower care, snow removal)
Assists other crews
Requirements:
High School Diploma
0-6 months of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds)
OR 1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds)
Must be able to drive vehicles and operate large, complex cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment
Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds as needed
Must pass background check, including fingerprints
Must be eligible to work in the United States (E-Verify)
Must be able to work 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Must report to work even if facilities are closed (essential personnel)
Nice to have:
Two or more years of progressive work experience in providing custodial care
Knowledge of materials, supplies, equipment, and methods of more technical cleaning and maintenance
Knowledge of custodial services operations
Knowledge of the proper operation of building systems
Ability to recognize equipment and system malfunctions
Ability to initiate emergency procedures and follow the Emergency Action Plan
Ability to communicate written word and orally
