Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the cleaning of UC Irvine facilities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Daily floor care
  • Dusting
  • Bathroom cleaning and disinfecting
  • Kitchen cleaning
  • Cleaning of fixtures and furniture
  • Interior and exterior trash removal
  • Window cleaning
  • Additional tasks as necessary (i.e. furniture moving) to ensure all facilities are maintained at a high level of cleanliness
  • Responsibilities may include weekend work during open and closing and during peak work periods
  • May also include after-hours emergency response and cleaning

Requirements:

  • Ability to vacuum, mop, dust, wash walls, wash windows and other surfaces
  • Ability to clean sinks, showers, and toilets
  • Ability to use vacuum, mop and pail, and other related equipment
  • Knowledge of the correct and safe use of proper cleaning supplies
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing for the purpose of instructions, record keeping and communicating issues with students and staff
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License and participate in the DMV Pull Notice
  • Must be able to operate a Facilities Management vehicle
  • Must be able to work outside regularly scheduled shift
  • Must Pass a Background check

Nice to have:

  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience
  • Experience working in a maintenance, custodial, or janitorial role within a high-volume, fast-paced environment
