Job Description:

Kansas State University seeks an energetic, dependable Custodial Specialist Senior to help us fulfill our mission of learning, scholarship, creative endeavor, and research by creating and maintaining an environment which contributes to the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position plays an integral role in maintaining and sustaining university structural assets. This position is responsible for first impressions, thus playing an important role in student & faculty recruitment and retention.

Job Responsibility:

  • Creating and maintaining an environment which contributes to the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Maintaining and sustaining university structural assets
  • Performing a variety of custodial functions to include cleaning, operating & programing robotic equipment, disinfecting, minor equipment repair and preventative maintenance
  • Utilizing a broad array of chemicals and operate a variety of power equipment in maintenance of floors
  • Performing a variety of miscellaneous tasks as assigned by leadership
  • Working with minimal supervision
  • Frequently interacting effectively with university students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Operating and maintaining a variety of commercial janitorial equipment, including robotic equipment
  • Reporting issues with the autonomous cleaning robots, collaborate schedules and optimize the use of robotic equipment, and provide feedback on their performance
  • Could be called into work in emergency situations including but not limited to inclement weather, flooding caused by weather, accidents or infrastructure failure and recovery from other catastrophic events

Requirements:

  • Drivers license
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of commercial janitorial equipment and understand/follow explicit instructions, both oral and written form
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • All candidates must be 18 years of age
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
