The Culinary Intern is responsible for maintaining high levels of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization while helping to prepare, cook, and assemble dishes in their assigned areas. This position will also help with the proper storage of food deliveries and inventory of items. The Culinary Intern will handle food in adherence to the recipe standards to ensure all food prepared meets Exact Sciences standard of excellence.
Job Responsibility:
Provide the highest quality of service at all times, including lunch service
Ensure preparation stations and kitchen are cleaned, sanitized, and stocked
Comply with sanitation/safety standards within Food services and ensure all personnel follow safety/sanitation standards
Verify orders, unload, and stock items in walk in coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas
Move equipment and supplies from storage areas to work areas
Assist team members with food preparation
including, but not limited to, blending soups, washing, and peeling vegetables, chopping vegetables, and cutting meat
Clean and sanitize food preparation areas and cooking surfaces, before, during, and after food service operations
Prepare ingredients, cook, and assemble dishes as indicated by recipes
Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep cost within forecasted range
Maintain a clean workstation by cleaning prep areas, kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves and taking care of any leftovers in the workspace
Ensure that all dishes are prepared in a timely manner by restocking ingredients at workstation and meeting prep times to ensure smooth delivery
Cook menu items with support of the kitchen staff
Grow inside container hydroponic farms including seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and packaging produce
Clean and maintain the hydroponic farm, including general farm cleaning, refilling water and nutrient tanks and calibrating sensors
Requirements:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Currently enrolled in associate degree program or obtaining bachelor's degree
Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
