Job Description

Building the digital backbone for trusted, verifiable sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). Avero is building the compliance and verification layer that airlines, fuel producers and auditors need to trust every drop. We already have MVP, industry traction and LOIs in progress. Now we are looking for a mission-driven CTO to architect and build a platform that will define the future of SAF compliance, digital MRV and emissions traceability.

Job Responsibility

  • Architect/ continue to architect the platform (backend, APIs, integrations, data layer)
  • Lead the technical roadmap, MVP build and long-term scaling strategy
  • Translate regulatory and commercial requirements into system design
  • Build secure, audit-ready compliance workflows
  • Integrate with registries, LCA/CI models, airline systems and verifiers
  • Set up cloud infrastructure, security, DevOps and data structures
  • Eventually hire and manage the engineering team
  • Act as a partner in strategy, product decisions and investor discussions

Requirements

  • Strong backend engineering experience (ideally 8+ years)
  • Proven experience building scalable SaaS platforms
  • Strong understanding of APIs, databases, system architecture, cloud, and security
  • Ability to translate complex requirements into clear product logic
  • Ownership-driven, collaborative mindset
  • Ability to build and lead the engineering function of a startup

Nice to have

  • Experience in climate tech, carbon accounting, digital MRV or LCA/CI systems
  • Experience in aviation, energy, fuels or supply-chain systems
  • Understanding of data lineage, emissions modelling or compliance workflows
  • Experience with enterprise software or regulated industries
  • Experience in a startup environment
