Job Description:

PRN position with flexibility top pick up varied shifts. This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent. It is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required of the incumbent. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties.

Job Responsibility:

  • Production of scans, positions, and immobilization of patients
  • Selects proper technical factors
  • Ensures patient is well informed about procedure and other relevant positioning information
  • Responsibility for diagnostic procedures requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology so that independent selection and modification of technical factors may produce optimum results
  • Responsible for capturing appropriate exam charges, updates to procedure files, reimbursement codes, etc., with the HIS/RIS Computer System, as well as training and overseeing department personnel following HIS/RIS Procedures
  • checks daily log to see that day's exams are appropriately completed
  • Ensures that procedures sent to PACS are verified to enable radiologist interpretation of the procedure
  • Provision of radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards
  • Maintenance of adequate records, orderliness, and cleanliness of CT suite
  • Required to perform quality control tests and document results
  • maintains a quality protocol to computerize and enhance images
  • Completes assigned CQI projects and mandatory inservices as assigned
  • Performs 3-D reconstruction, CT angiography and is proficient in use of AWW work station
  • Injection of appropriate contrast material into a vein to visualize anatomical structures under the supervision of a Radiologist and following department guidelines
  • Maintain awareness of technological changes and advances in CT

Requirements:

  • Graduate of AMA approved school of radiology technology with certification by ARRT
  • 6 months minimum CT experience
  • Able to mentor and educate radiology technologists in proper techniques for CT scanning
  • Computer applications technical background in computers
  • Technical knowledge in the Area of computers and cross sectional anatomy
  • CT registered within 6 month from the date of hire
  • IEMA accreditation
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registered (ARRT) (CT)
  • CPR certified
  • Prior experience with all age groups is required
  • Ability to lift and/or move patients
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases
  • Ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week

  • Assess physician’s order and patient’s requisition for completeness by reviewing the requisition, pertinent laboratory results and the patient’s chart to ensure the correct procedure and protocol is performed
  • Documents pertinent patient and exam information and stores computerized images onto an archive media for future reference or retrieval
  • Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and processing. Set up films properly in PACs system. Accurately inputs data in the RIS by tracking actual procedure in order to capture all charges and other relevant information
