As our CT Technologist on the Barrow Emergency Stroke Treatment Unit (BESTU) team, you will help stroke victims receive immediate and expert stroke care, including rapid diagnosis via mobile CT scanning, so they can reduce death and long-term disability. Every day you will perform CT scanning and specialized work-ups in a mobile emergency room setting. You will be expected to perform CT scans based on current protocols (including Trauma/ER, Perfusions, and Routine Neuro), utilize ALARA radiation safety practices, accurately complete perfusions and reconstructions on the 3-D workstation, and thoroughly document all required forms in Radnet and PACS. To be successful in this role, you must be a registered CT Technologist, prepared to work 24/7/365 as part of a trained stroke team, providing imaging services and contributing to the goal of high-quality patient care in the mobile stroke setting.
Job Responsibility
Perform CT scanning and specialized work-ups in a mobile emergency room setting
Perform CT scans based on current protocols (including Trauma/ER, Perfusions, and Routine Neuro)
Utilize ALARA radiation safety practices
Accurately complete perfusions and reconstructions on the 3-D workstation
Thoroughly document all required forms in Radnet and PACS
Performs CT scans based on current protocols and/or radiologist recommendations i.e. Trauma/ER, Perfusions, Routine Body, Routine Neuro and Interventional Procedures
Assists Interventional Radiologist by accurately scanning the area of interest requested by Radiologist i.e. biopsies and drainages
Ensures patient is ready for scan i.e. confirms appropriate gauge IV needle, appropriate type/dose of contrast and allergy status
Accurately and thoroughly completes hospital/department specific forms per protocol i.e. completes exams in Radnet, incident reports/extravasation forms, patient contrast information forms, side/site forms and documents exam information in CT log
Performs protocol management by evaluating and determining area of interest and type of scan to be performed on patient, consults physician as necessary
Encourages good working relationships, promotes team effort within the department by communicating in a positive manner and motivates staff
Requirements
Completion of approved American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or equivalent approved Radiologic Technologist Program
Two years CT Tech experience
Must hold and maintain AZ DHS Bureau of Special Licensing CRT: Certified Radiologic Technologist (CT CRT) and CTCT: Certified Technologist/Computed Tomography AZ Drivers License (DRV LIC)
Must also hold and maintain national American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (CT ARRT) and American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CT CPRBLS)
