Requirements

Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology
Maintains current NYS licensure and ARRT certification with CE credits as required
For Band Two: Minimum of 18 months of progressively responsible professional work experience as a specialist in Computed Tomography in a clinical or hospital environment with at least 6 months dedicated to the URMC Imaging Sciences Department
certification in Computed Tomography
capable of performing all CT related duties
For Band Three: Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible professional work experience as a specialist in Computed Tomography in a clinical or hospital environment with 1 year dedicated to the URMC Imaging Sciences Department preferred
certified in Computed Tomography
must satisfy the requirements and be capable of performing all duties of a Band Two Certified CT Technologist
comfortable operating many of the various platforms that exist within the UR CT environment

Job Responsibility

Performs CT exams by following and verifying referring provider orders and remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences department and all governing bodies
Identifies patient service requirements
Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed
Prepares patient for radiological/CT procedures by positioning patient
adjusting immobilization devices
moves equipment into specified position
adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors
Performs procedures by following and verifying referring provider orders
Applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures
Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation

Job Responsibility

Performs CT exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders

Prepares and maintains accurate documentation
Practices radiation protection techniques (ALARA)
Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements
Troubleshoots and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance
Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors
May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities
