Job Description:

Performs computed tomography (CT) exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders and remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences department and all governing bodies. This position serves as a preceptor in the on-boarding of newly hired Technologists directly orienting to equipment, imaging routines and procedures, computer programs and software, as well as departmental and hospital policies. This position is considered a subject matter expert in downtime procedures and acts as super-user when new equipment or programs are introduced to the department. Independently is responsible for performing I-stats, pregnancy tests, starting IV's, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, Injecting IV contrast, preparing oral contrast, completing all associated paperwork and computer work, and discharging the patient from the CT department with appropriate post CT instructions. May be designated as a Lead to support operations on various shifts.

Job Responsibility:

  • Performs computed tomography (CT) exams
  • Serves as a preceptor for newly hired Technologists
  • Acts as subject matter expert in downtime procedures and super-user for new equipment
  • Performs I-stats, pregnancy tests, starting IV's, scanning patients, injecting IV contrast, preparing oral contrast, completing paperwork and computer work, discharging patients with post CT instructions
  • May be designated as Lead to support operations

  • Produces high quality images
  • Prepares and maintains accurate documentation
  • Practices radiation protection techniques

  • May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities

Requirements:

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • 4 years of progressively responsible professional work experience as a specialist in Computed Tomography in a clinical or hospital environment
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist - current NYS licensure upon hire
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with CE credits upon hire

Nice to have:

1 year experience in the URMC Imaging Sciences Department
