Performs CT exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders and remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences department and all governing bodies. This position requires training as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist. This generally involves orientation to the Departments infrastructure, policies, protocols, workflows, procedures and routines. This position is responsible for performing I-stats, pregnancy tests, starting IV's, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, Injecting IV contrast, preparing oral contrast, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the CT department with appropriate post CT instructions.
Job Responsibility:
Performs CT exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders
Identifies patient service requirements
Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed
Prepares patient for radiological/CT procedures by positioning patient
Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them for timely interpretation
Prepares and maintains accurate documentation
Practices radiation protection techniques (ALARA)
Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements
Troubleshoots and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance
Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors
May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities
Requirements:
Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required
Licensed Radiologic Technologist - current NYS licensure upon hire required
ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT certification with appropriate CE credits upon hire required
