The LATAM Head for Risk & Control Controllers will support the LATAM Controllers function’s Control and Governance Framework, including risk and control-related operational leadership for LATAM Controllers operations, overseeing internal and external audit readiness, and ensuring sustainable remediation efforts; Will manage a team based in Mexico City and Costa Rica.
Job Responsibility:
Serving as trusted Risk and Control advisor to Controllers stakeholders
Providing direct support for Controllers for core Risk and Control responsibilities, including sharing best practices
Managing a team of Risk and Control professionals, including developing and retaining talent
Ensuring potential issues or concerns are identified, communicated, and resolved in a timely manner
Partnering with functions and businesses on managing control issues
Identifying and assessing risks
Managing staff monitoring risk processes
Serving as liaison with Internal Audit and external auditors
Ensuring alignment of local risk and control processes to global/regional standards
Standardizing and implementing best practices to improve control metrics
Driving cultural change to embed practices mitigating operational risk
Supporting Controllers-wide projects and initiatives
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
15+ years of relevant experience in financial services industry with knowledge of the regulatory environment
Significant experience in Finance, Operational Risk Management and/or Internal Audit
Thorough understanding of strategic direction of the Controllers function with grounding in Risk & Control
Experience in end-to-end processes, identification of risks, and design of controls
Process re-engineering and current/target state process mapping experience
Proven track record of execution and managing controls
Knowledge of Citi’s business and products
Knowledge of ledger and accounting processes
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Effective negotiation skills
Strong track record of managing competing priorities
Demonstrated ability to assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques
Strong English & Spanish language skills, written and oral
Nice to have:
MBA or other advanced degree
Knowledge of ledger and accounting processes
Knowledge of Citi’s business and products
Outstanding people leadership skills and previous experience managing a diverse staff
