Job Responsibility:

  • Provides anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients
  • Performs pre-anesthesia functions
  • Performs post-anesthesia duties
  • Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution
  • Responds to life threatening, Code Blue/Code 4 and respiratory emergencies if available
  • Assists nursing units with difficult intravenous (IV) insertions when requested
  • May administers anesthesia under the supervision of the operating surgeon
  • May provides labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center
  • Maintains knowledge of scientific theory, research findings, current practice and applicable standards
  • May participate in departmental improvement processes and ASC processes when appropriate
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
  • Nurse Anesthetist certification (CRNA) issued by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license issued by the state in which the team member practices
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Must be able to fulfill department schedule needs, which may include 24/7 call and weekend coverage, as needed.
