Job Description

As a Critical Environment Program Manager (CEPM), you will own and maintain the operational excellence of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure in our datacenters, ensuring service continuity, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and efficiency. We are seeking candidates with demonstrated experience in data center operations or other critical environment settings, including work supporting mission-critical services and high-availability infrastructure. This experience may be developed across a range of industries, including data centers, manufacturing, oil and gas, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or similar critical infrastructure sectors, or through an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience. This role is part of our Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team which is the engine that powers our cloud services and delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. As a group, CO+I is focused on the personal and professional development of all employees and offers training and growth opportunities including Career Rotation Programs, Diversity & Inclusion trainings and events, and professional certifications. Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems within a data center environment, ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance programs

  • Identify and reduce risk, minimizing human-error and high-impact incidents year over year
  • Support emergency response readiness, acting as an escalation point for facilities-related incidents
  • Deliver efficiency outcomes by advancing cost optimization and energy efficiency initiatives and support data-driven operations through the accurate measurement and reporting of key metrics, including power, temperature, and service-level (SLA) performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or services
  • Experience working on large scale industrial projects OR industry experience in a datacenter
  • This role requires proficiency in written, reading, and conversational English
