Job Description

Atrium Health, one of the most comprehensive public, not-for-profit healthcare systems in the nation, is actively recruiting an experienced Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at Atrium Health Pineville. Our facility is a rapidly growing community hospital with 394 beds. The hospital is located in Pineville, NC, 14 miles south of the city, just northeast of the South Carolina border. Our critical care professionals strive to provide world-class comprehensive care to critically ill or injured patients. Our expert critical care team of physicians and advanced practice providers manage patients within our specialty intensive care units: cardiac medical ICU, cardiothoracic surgical ICU, medical ICU, and surgical ICU. Attending Intensivists provide supervision at our busy medical center that includes a 45 bed adult ICU unit. Our site hosts an advanced practice provider fellowship in critical care.

Job Responsibility

  • Daily management and documentation of complicated critically ill medical and surgical patients
  • Admission directly from the operating room and management of hemodynamically complex, post op cardiac surgery patients
  • Admission hemodynamically complex patients directly from the interventional cardiac lab

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited ACNP or PA program
  • Nurse practitioners are required to have a master’s degree or doctorate in nursing practice
  • Certification as an ACNP from a nationally recognized certifying body is required
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs is required
  • North Carolina license, North Carolina DEA, BLS and ACLS required
  • Interpersonal skills and critical thinking must be demonstrated

Nice to have

  • Post graduate ICU fellowship or experience in an ICU setting as a PA or NP preferred
  • Applicants with significant and recent ICU experience as an RN will be considered
  • Experience with procedures including but not limited to central venous and arterial vascular access is preferred
  • Familiarity with mechanical support devices i.e. IABP and Impella is required
