Job Description

We are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Workers / Crisis Recovery Workers to join a Mental Health Crisis Service based in Tunbridge Wells.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide emotional support, advice, and guidance to individuals experiencing mental health crises
  • Assess risk and identify the needs of people accessing the service
  • Develop and implement appropriate action plans and safety plans
  • Support individuals to manage factors affecting their mental wellbeing and physical health
  • Accurately maintain records and case notes using electronic systems
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals, community services, and external agencies
  • Participate in risk assessments and safeguarding procedures
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high-quality, recovery-focused service
  • Attend supervision sessions, team meetings, and mandatory training
  • Promote positive mental health awareness and recovery within the community

Requirements

  • Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to working patterns
  • Ability to work on a rota basis within a service operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

Nice to have

  • Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience within crisis intervention, mental health recovery, community support, safe havens, or similar services
  • Experience conducting mental health risk assessments
  • Knowledge of local statutory and non-statutory mental health services

  • Implement the recovery plan and inform any review, working jointly with the Assessment and Recovery Team Recovery Navigator/Care Co-ordinator, in partnership with service users in line with best practice
  • Coordinate support, refer and liaise effectively with all professionals, agencies and other parties involved in service user's support in order to deliver the crisis support package
  • Enable delivery of the crisis and recovery plans and to enable service users to make informed decisions about their mental wellbeing, maximising their independence and providing advocacy role where appropriate
  • Provide specialist support to women using the service and advice and guidance to other team members regarding women's mental health issues
  • Promote and facilitate service user involvement and inclusion within Mental Health Bristol and the community in line with Mental Health Bristol Partnership objectives
  • Manage caseload, documentation and time effectively, ensuring up to date, clear and accurate record keeping in line with MHB policies, making best use of supervision, training and staff development
