Job Description:

Volunteer role to support people affected by alcohol and/or substance use who are involved in the criminal justice system, following arrest/pre-court hearings. The service offers harm minimisation advice and support to reduce the likelihood of reoffending.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the individual to engage with the community service they have been referred to
  • Offering check-ins (either telephone or face-to-face) in-between referral and their initial appointment with the community service
  • Accompanying them to the first appointment

Requirements:

  • Passionate about making a difference
  • Good listener
  • Ability to motivate people to change
  • Comfortable working with vulnerable people
  • Enthusiasm for delivering a service that supports individuals to make positive changes to their behaviour, health and well-being
  • Lived experience of substance use and/or the criminal justice system, or an understanding of the issues faced by people who use drugs and alcohol, and who commit crime
