Criminal Duty Solicitor

• Managing a heavy caseload of criminal defence matters, including serious and complex cases
• Proactively lead and manage a team of highly dedicated lawyers
• Representing clients at the police station both in and outside of office hours
• Making court appearances to conduct advocacy at first hearings, interim hearings and trial advocacy
• Doing meticulous case preparation and litigation
• Management and supervision of other Criminal Duty Solicitors and the allocation of their work whilst ensuring compliance with the 2022 Standard Crime Contract

• 2 to 8 years PQE as a Criminal Solicitor
• Criminal Litigation Accreditation is essential
• Ability to work with minimum supervision, manage own caseload, use own initiative and be self-disciplined
• Be comfortable to guide, manage and lead others and be able to offer constructive criticism and feedback
• Strong advocacy skills and experience representing clients in criminal proceedings
• This role regularly involves working unsociable hours: evenings and weekends to represent suspects detained at the police station and before the Courts
