The Crew Planning Analyst is responsible for developing solutions for crew planning and analysis at Alaska Air Group (AAG). As an individual contributor, this role makes recommendations to improve analysis of crew related data to support the execution of optimizing monthly planning and long-term staffing for crew planning and operations. This position supports forecasting crew productivity, reserve demand, and overall staffing requirements to ensure that the airline is appropriately staffed, and the operation is supported.
Job Responsibility:
Provide support to manage and improve optimization model to analyze pilot manpower and training requirements and provide accurate crew staffing forecasts
Conduct analysis to optimize crew pairings in such a way to balance costs, productivity, operational reliability, and crew quality of life considerations
Responsible for analyzing the operational reliability of crewmember schedules in order to reduce staffing demand, and increase reliability for the operation
Responsible for building monthly pairings solutions in conjunction with respective employee group representation
Responsible for building monthly rosters for crew members
Disseminate crew schedule information to applicable departments
Maintain crew seniority lists for schedule bidding purposes
Schedule and track Flight Attendant Training
Make recommendations in support of the development of pilot equipment vacancy bid plans and training assignments that support company goals, adhere to contractual restrictions and work within resource limitations
Monitor operational and financial implications of strategic changes including, but not limited to, flying schedule, labor contract provisions, regulatory provisions, company resource goals, and technology
Requirements:
2 years of experience in crew planning or scheduling, data analysis or related area
Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Ability to work effectively, meet deadlines, and shift priorities appropriately in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with an aptitude for problem solving
High performance orientation, ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility
Working knowledge of probability, statistics, and forecasting techniques
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum age of 18
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Nice to have:
1 year of airline crew planning or crew scheduling experience
Demonstrated knowledge of pilot and flight attendant contractual provisions for scheduling, bidding, training and pay
Experience with JCTE, Navtech bid award and crew tracking software
Experience with Sabre Airflight schedule manager
Understanding of FAA regulations with regard to crewmember scheduling
