Citi is looking for an experienced Credit Underwriting Manager to join its Institutional Credit Management (ICM) team, a first line of defense function built to deliver integrated, end-to-end credit underwriting and portfolio monitoring for wholesale institutional clients across Corporate Banking, Services, and Markets. In this senior role, you will lead a team of credit analysts, own a multi-country corporate credit portfolio, and serve as a key decision-maker and partner across Banking, Risk, and regulatory stakeholders. Job Responsibility
Lead end-to-end credit underwriting for a portfolio of institutional corporate clients
Review and provide sign-off on financial analysis, due diligence, projection modeling, stress testing, and risk ratings prepared by a team of credit analysts
Monitor a multi-country corporate credit portfolio on a continuous basis
Partner with Front Office teams on structuring new transactions and negotiating legal documentation
Assess risk and return trade-offs associated with complex financing structures and capital markets products
Lead credit discussions with internal and external auditors
Manage, develop, and mentor a team of 9–12 credit analysts
Build and sustain strong working relationships with Banking, Risk, regulatory bodies, and internal control functions
Requirements
7 or more years of credit risk or credit-related experience within banking or financial services, with demonstrated expertise in corporate credit analysis, credit underwriting, and portfolio management
Ability to independently assess complex credit situations
Skilled in financial spreading, projection modeling, stress testing, and the preparation of credit memos, with a strong command of industry and market analysis
Familiarity with capital markets products and complex financing structures, with the ability to evaluate risk asset allocation and risk capital implications
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with regulators, internal audit, and fundamental credit risk functions, as well as external auditors
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present credit assessments clearly to varied audiences
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited university
Nice to have
Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Finance, Economics, or a related field
Direct exposure to global credit risk management standards and cross-border portfolio management across multiple countries or regions
Experience leading or significantly contributing to recruitment and onboarding processes within a credit or risk function
