The Credentials Specialist is responsible for providing high quality and analysis oversight and support to the medical staff and allied health staff with credentialing and privileging activities for initial and reappointment for our Baptist Health Hospital’s, assuring compliance to regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as the Baptist Health Hospital Bylaws, Rules & Regulations and Policies/Procedures.
Job Responsibility:
Credentialing and re-credentialing for physicians and allied Health Professionals
Assisting with the privileging process by going over information contained in credentialing applications and CVs
Helping to ensure that applicants have met all licensing and joint Commission requirements for the Hospital based on Baptist Health’s Bylaws/Rules and Regulations
Ensuring the provider has a clean file before the Committee meets to review and approve and any and all red flags have been addressed prior to
Processing additional requests for additional privileges, additional facilities, change in categories, deletions/resignations (etc.) for Physicians and Allied Health Professionals
Processing Locum Tenens and/or Emergency Privileges for providers needing an expedited credentialing process
Processing provisional transfers for Physician to ensure that they have met all initial requirements, per Bylaws
Focusing Professional Performance Evaluations and Ongoing Professional Performance Evaluations for Physicians and Allied Health Providers
Preparing and following up (including meeting minutes) for Medical Staff lead meetings
Setting up and maintaining provider information in the online credentialing database by ensuring that all credentials’ files are current and complete pursuant to expiration date of medical licenses, board certification, professional-liability insurance coverage, DEA and other pertinent information, per Baptist policy and procedure
Processing and approving System-wide Emergency Room Call Schedules
Prepares and maintains reports for leadership, system wide
Maintaining confidentiality of provider information
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
1-2 years Credentialing Experience
Experience working in a hospital setting
High School Diploma Required
Associate of Arts/Science Preferred
Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) Preferred
Knowledge and understanding of the credentialing process
Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including letters, memos and emails
Ability to research and analyze data
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, and contacts outside the organization
Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and internet resources
