The North Vancouver District Public Library is looking for a regular part-time Creative Technology Advisor. Reporting to the Manager of Innovation and Learning, the Creative Technology Advisor is responsible for advising the public and providing support on the delivery of digital programs, services, and tools available in StoryLab. The incumbent will coordinate the room bookings and use of digital resources; resolve matters and issues concerning content creation; maintain the inventory of hardware equipment; and participate in the research, development, and delivery of new digital service programs. The incumbent will also assist and support the work of other library staff in responding to moderately complex enquiries; and update resource material on online platforms.
Job Responsibility:
Advise the public on the use of digital resources in StoryLab
coordinate the bookings of rooms
perform check-in/check-out of audio/visual equipment and respond to requests of same
assist in set up and take down of the audio/visual equipment
resolve matter and issue concerning content creation
and explain library policies and procedures.
Maintain the inventory of hardware equipment
catalogues, labels, and track equipment
clean and maintain computer terminals and equipment
monitor equipment for damage
conduct battery replacement and charging as required
and make replacement or warranty claims as needed.
Participate in the research, development, and delivery of new digital service programs, such as audio booth, video studio, creation stations, and digitization stations
under the direction of a superior, assess and make recommendations on new software tools and equipment
and keep abreast of emerging trends in digital tools and technologies for content creation and creativity.
Provide support and assistance to the public on moderately complex enquiries, in accordance with applicable policies and procedures
develop, maintain, and provide established guides and instructional aides.
Assist with maintaining and updating content and resource material for library website and online platforms
publish instructional information on the website and upload online booking calendars.
Communicate with public library staff at other North Vancouver District Public Library locations and community partners as requested
and make recommendations to technical staff on improving policies and procedures for use of technology.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Completion of a diploma program in a related field, plus sound related experience in multimedia development
or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Considerable knowledge of the objectives, organization and applicable procedures and familiarity using various software applications and related hardware in a public library environment.
Considerable knowledge of digital software and hardware equipment used in the work.
Sound knowledge and understanding of current and emerging digital technology related to content creation and creativity.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with the public in a courteous manner.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts such as the general public in one-on-one and group settings.
Ability to recommend changes in service delivery and participate in the development of library policies and procedures.
Ability to make decisions in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
Ability to work independently under general supervision and in a team environment to provide customer service.
Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of correspondence, reports and records related to the work.
Ability to set up, take down, and carry a variety of hardware equipment.
Skill in the operation of equipment used in the work.
