Job Description

On the Waymo Marketing team, you will help to connect people with the magic and impact of Waymo's autonomous driving technology. Our team has the unique opportunity to not only grow Waymo's brand from the ground up, but to also build societal acceptance for autonomous driving technology for the first time in history. We build thoughtful marketing strategy, positioning, messaging and creative assets to deliver messages that matter to our audience, communicated through anything from video content, to social media interactions, to immersive physical experiences. We also shape Waymo's go-to-market initiatives, helping to transform Waymo into a thriving business with a growing user base. In this hybrid role, you will report to the Group Creative Marketing Lead.

Job Responsibility

  • Pioneer bold creative and brand narratives that translate Waymo’s frontier autonomous driving technology into clear, compelling, and human-centered campaigns
  • Drive the creative vision and execution of high-visibility campaigns across a vast spectrum of mediums, ranging from massive brand initiatives (TV, OOH, print, and experiential) to fast-paced, always-on paid social and digital content
  • Own the verbal brand standards and end-to-end writing process, setting an exceptional quality bar while remaining a hands-on writer, writing and reviewing copy to ensure emotional resonance, cultural relevance, and absolute brand alignment
  • Direct and collaborate with external agencies and production partners, translating business briefs into clear creative strategies to streamline high-volume production demands
  • Build, scale, and optimize repeatable creative systems and modular templates to enable your team to deliver fast-turnaround, localized digital ad campaigns at speed without sacrificing craft, taste, or brand consistency

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in brand creative, copywriting, or creative direction at an agency or in-house marketing team, with a portfolio demonstrating mastery in both traditional and digital mediums
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience, with a proven history of growing, inspiring, and managing multi-disciplinary creative teams of copywriters, designers, and video editors
  • A strong track record of developing end-to-end integrated campaigns across diverse channels, showing your ability to scale creative strategies from broad awareness-building down to hyper-focused performance and conversion stages
  • Mastery of storytelling and communication, with a proven ability to distill complex, emerging technology or sophisticated technical subjects into clear, compelling, and highly engaging consumer messaging
  • Demonstrated experience integrating robust design and verbal systems into highly scalable, polished, and culturally resonant creative work
  • An available online portfolio showcasing distinctive, metrics-driven campaign creative, exceptional copywriting, and an adaptable approach to writing across multiple formats and platforms

Nice to have

  • Experience expanding and scaling a consumer brand internationally, adapting large-scale marketing campaigns to respect local cultural nuances while maintaining a highly cohesive global brand standard
  • A strong performance marketing and direct-to-consumer (DTC) creative mindset, with a proven track record of using creative performance metrics and rapid testing to optimize campaign copy, conversion, and pipeline growth
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to design compelling pitches and distill complex, frontier technology into simple, human-centered narratives
  • Masterful stakeholder and executive management skills, including a track record of pitching bold creative directions, resolving conflicting visions, and earning trust with senior, non-marketing leaders
  • Advanced fluency with Generative AI and AI-assisted creative tools, utilizing emerging technologies as a strategic multiplier to accelerate copy ideation, asset versioning, and personalization at scale

  • Lead with maker energy. Drive design, craft, and execution with pace and pride, raising the bar on every visual, system, and experience, and pushing visuals to be bolder, clearer, and more culturally relevant.
  • Think in systems, not assets. Build identities and design languages that scale across channels and evolve over time. Create rules and rythms, not just one-off screens.
  • Craft with obsession. Sweat the details: spacing, alignment, type, transitions, iconography, accessibility, responsiveness. Your work should feel authored, intentional and world-class.
  • Design beyond the screen. Bring the same design intelligence to environments, packaging, content ecosystems, installations and tech-enabled experiences. Understand how a brand behaves in the real world.
  • Make work that travels. Create a design with PR potential: iconic, ownable, culturally legible. Understand what will land locally in MENA and what will travel globally.
  • Own the process end-to-end. From early explorations and mood boards to design development, artworking, production files and QA, you shepherd quality through every phase.
  • Collaborate like a modern designer. Work fluidly with writers, strategists, creative directors, technologists, makers, AI tools and the broader AKQA network. Invite critique and use friction to sharpen outcomes.
  • Present with clarity and taste. Tell the design story: the rationale, the system, the choices and the craft, guiding clients through what matters and why it works.
  • Guard the standard. Be accountable for every deliverable. Ensure every layout, screen, prototype, deck page and asset meets AKQA's global level and reflects the studio's ambition.
  • A compelling portfolio demonstrating design craft and systems thinking across brand, digital, product, campaign and/or experience work.
