The Senior CRE Credit Products Portfolio Manager is a strategic advisor responsible for structuring, negotiating, and managing highly complex commercial credit relationships. This role influences credit strategy by providing deep market insights, proactive risk identification, and innovative deal structuring solutions. With extensive experience in credit analysis and portfolio management, this position ensures long-term portfolio health while supporting the bank’s growth objectives. Additionally, this role serves as a mentor and thought leader, developing junior credit professionals and shaping best practices in underwriting and risk management.
Job Responsibility
Lead the structuring, analysis, and approval of highly complex credit transactions, ensuring risk is balanced with business needs
Proactively monitor portfolio risk, identifying industry trends and economic factors impacting credit quality
Serve as a strategic partner to RMs and senior leadership, offering expertise in credit negotiations and deal execution
Work directly with clients, legal counsel, and internal teams to structure and negotiate credit agreements
Mentor junior credit professionals, providing training and leadership in credit risk best practices
Proactively identifies and raises to senior leadership improvement areas in credit processes and procedures
Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions regarding assigned portfolio
Analyzes and resolves problems pertaining to the assigned portfolio
Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required
Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings
Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Requirements
Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field or 12+ years of equivalent experience
Minimum experience required: 10+ Years in commercial credit analysis/structuring, underwriting, portfolio management and risk analysis
Deep expertise in structuring and negotiating complex credit agreements
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence credit strategy and policy
In-depth understanding of macroeconomic factors and their impact on credit risk
Proven ability to manage large portfolios and advise senior executives
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
As relevant for the supported line of business, well versed in legal documentation (e.g., Credit Agreements) and positioned to both develop more junior associates on the topic, interact with internal and external legal counsel, and negotiate directly with clients.
