Job Description:

General Excavating is searching for a qualified Crane Operator responsible for operating lattice boom cranes and other various types of heavy equipment, as specified by supervisor. The qualified candidate works on construction projects primarily operating cranes, but must be willing to assist in daily maintenance of equipment, slings, cables and straps, as well as other job site operations, as needed.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist in loading/unloading equipment and supplies
  • Operate lattice boom cranes and other heavy equipment
  • Perform daily inspection and ensure equipment is in safe working order
  • Communicate and coordinate with site supervisor
  • Use all applicable crane hand signals
  • Operate diesel pile hammers and vibratory hammer driving operations
  • Report equipment maintenance and repair needs
  • Work closely with crew members using hand signals
  • Monitor compliance with project safety program requirements
  • Enforce compliance with administrative policies and safety rules

Requirements:

  • NCCCO Mobile Crane and Lattice Boom Crane certified
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Five (5) years minimum related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination and stamina
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk up to eight hours per day
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
