The Craft Manager leads and coordinates a crew of carpenters and laborers to ensure high-quality, efficient, and safe completion of carpentry-related tasks on construction projects. This role combines hands-on carpentry work with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring that project schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. This individual will work with project teams on manpower needs, maintain the craft tracker, and schedule craft accordingly. The Craft Manager helps with interviews, hiring new craft employees, career pathing and training, performance reviews and crucial conversations as needed.
Job Responsibility:
Leads and coordinates a crew of carpenters and laborers
Ensures high-quality, efficient, and safe completion of carpentry-related tasks on construction projects
Combines hands-on carpentry work with supervisory responsibilities
Ensures project schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met

Solely responsible for the manpower requests and communications
Jumps in on “one off” days when specific project tasks or extra help is needed
Craft training the “BCI way”

Has an intimate feel for each one strengths/weaknesses
Trains accordingly
Review and coordinate PTO requests with the individual/team

Provide on the job training and mentoring to crew members

Help with deliveries when needed as support to the warehouse
Take lead and facilitate self-perform site fencing installation
Walk with project teams to assess tasks needed, perform material take offs and assist in obtaining tools and materials needed for completing tasks
Lead, direct, and motivate carpentry crew members to meet production goals
Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure work is completed, on time and according to project plans
Communicate effectively with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to coordinate work activities
Perform skilled carpentry tasks including measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing wood and other materials according to blueprints and specifications
Operate hand tools, power tools, and other construction equipment safely and effectively
Can train these operations as needed
Ensure all carpentry work meets quality, safety, and code requirements
Interpret and work from construction drawings, blueprints, and plans
Order and manage materials, tools, and supplies as needed for assigned tasks
Monitor jobsite safety and enforce compliance with company and OSHA safety standards
Identify and address potential hazards or issues before they impact progress
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of carpentry experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role
Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints
Strong communication, leadership and crew management skills
Advanced knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials
Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
Commitment to and full understanding of Brinkman’s safety and quality program
Current driver’s license & valid for the past consecutive 12 months
Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
Ability to navigate different technical platforms: Outlook, Excel, Autodesk
Familiar with layout best practices, understands importance of maintaining control and grid lines, experience with total station or theodolite preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent

10-hour OSHA Training Course sponsored by the company and completed in first three months of employment
First Aid/CPR Training Course sponsored by the company and completed in first three months of employment
Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly and perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions
Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods
Able to travel to various project locations
Able to concentrate at a high degree in a busy and noisy construction environment
