Are you a confident, adaptable leader looking for a rewarding, flexible role in West Suffolk? Can you manage a classroom with authority, keep students focused, and ensure learning continues seamlessly when their regular teacher is away? Whether you are a local graduate aiming for a career in education, a career changer, or an experienced supervisor, Randstad Education wants to hear from you. We are seeking proactive and reliable Cover Supervisors to support our partner secondary schools and academies across Bury St Edmunds. This role is ideal for individuals who want to gain invaluable classroom experience without the responsibilities of lesson planning, grading, or parents' evenings. It offers a fantastic opportunity to build your leadership skills, manage diverse groups of young people, and work on a schedule that fits your lifestyle.

Classroom Leadership: Oversee secondary classes (KS3 & KS4), maintaining a safe, respectful, and highly productive learning environment while delivering pre-set lesson plans
Behaviour Management: Consistently enforce the school's behaviour policy, addressing low-level disruptions firmly and fairly to keep students on task
Student Guidance: Assist students with their work, clarifying instructions and answering questions to ensure there is no drop in academic momentum
Versatile Adaptation: Be prepared to cover a wide spectrum of subjects throughout the school day-from English and Humanities to practical subjects like Art or PE
Handover & Reporting: Take accurate attendance registers and provide detailed notes for the returning classroom teacher regarding student progress and behaviour
Requirements
Confidence & Presence
Resilient Adaptability
Strong Communication
Relevant Experience (Preferred): Prior experience working with children or teenagers-such as sports coaching, youth work, tutoring, or camp leadership-is highly advantageous
Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad)
