Are you a confident, empathetic, and reliable individual looking for a flexible role in education? Randstad Education is seeking Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Horsham. This is a vital role where you will act as the lead figure in the classroom for pupils aged 11-16. You don't need to be a subject expert-your primary mission is to ensure that students feel safe, encouraged, and engaged with their pre-set work while the regular teacher is absent. This position is highly versatile and serves as an excellent stepping stone for: Aspiring Teachers seeking essential 'front-of-class' experience. Graduates looking to build a career in the education sector. Teaching Assistants ready to take on more classroom responsibility.

Job Responsibility

  • Build rapport to humanize the classroom experience and manage behavior positively
  • Use constant encouragement and positive feedback to keep students motivated
  • Identify and pick up students who are struggling to help them complete their tasks
  • Maintain a non-judgmental environment and follow strict reporting protocols for any disclosures

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (Grades 9-4 / A*-C) including English and Maths
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is highly desirable
  • Enhanced DBS check required
  • Honesty, adaptability, and the ability to make learning fun and engaging
