Job Description:

We are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to work in secondary schools across the Gateshead area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with classroom experience, a background in education, or those considering a teaching career. The role involves supervising lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students stay engaged and on task.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects
  • Manage classroom behaviour and ensure a positive learning environment
  • Support students in completing set work and maintaining focus
  • Follow the school’s policies and procedures, ensuring safeguarding and student welfare
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress and engagement
  • Adapt to different classroom settings and year groups as needed

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with secondary school students (preferred but not essential)
  • A degree or relevant education qualification (desirable)
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Confidence in leading and engaging a class
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • A flexible and proactive approach
