As a Long-Term Cover Supervisor, you will build a strong rapport with Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils, providing crucial leadership and academic support during a vital stage of their secondary education. Job Responsibility

  • Oversee Key Stage 3 and 4 classes during the short-term absence of their usual subject teachers
  • Present pre-set lesson materials with clarity, keeping students focused on their daily learning goals
  • Foster a structured and encouraging learning environment that promotes respect and active participation
  • Address classroom behaviour consistently and fairly, applying the school's established behaviour management policies
  • Provide constructive support to students navigating their set tasks, ensuring they remain on track
  • Gather all completed work at the conclusion of the lesson and ensure the space is left in good order
  • Compile clear, accurate feedback for the returning class teacher regarding work completion and overall student conduct
  • Move confidently between various departments across the school day, adjusting your supervisory style to different subjects

Requirements

  • 6 months UK classroom experience is required
  • A degree or a relevant educational qualification (highly advantageous, though practical youth-work experience is strongly valued)
  • Current DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one through Randstad)
  • UK Right to Work (Share Code, Passport)
  • Previous experience working with children or young adults in an educational, coaching, youth work, or mentoring capacity
  • A confident, approachable, and authoritative classroom presence to effectively manage groups of secondary-aged students
  • Availability to commit to working 08:30am to 15:30pm
