The Role We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a well-regarded secondary school in Bradford. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible. The role of a Cover Supervisor is to manage a classroom in the absence of the regular teacher. You will be responsible for ensuring students remain on task and engaged with the pre-planned work provided. The role requires a strong presence and the ability to maintain a positive and productive learning environment. You will be a vital part of the school's daily operations, ensuring continuity of education and supporting the academic progress of all students.
Job Responsibility:
Supervising classes during the short-term absence of teachers
Managing pupil behaviour in the classroom to ensure a constructive learning environment
Ensuring students are on task with the pre-prepared work
Responding to and addressing any immediate questions or issues from students
Liaising with the school's teaching staff and administrative team
Upholding the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies at all times
Reporting back to the Head of Department or relevant teacher on class progress
Ensuring the safety and well-being of all students under your supervision
Leaving the classroom in a tidy and organised state for the returning teacher
Providing pastoral support to students as and when required
Requirements:
Previous experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting
A strong understanding of classroom management techniques
Eligibility to work in the UK
Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)
Exceptional behaviour management skills
Clear and confident communication
Ability to work autonomously and show initiative
Strong organisational skills
Adaptability and flexibility
Problem-solving ability
