The Cover Supervisor is a vital heartbeat within the secondary school environment. Operating in a full-time, long-term capacity, the successful candidate will step into various subject areas to deliver pre-set work and maintain a productive learning atmosphere.
Job Responsibility:
Classroom Management: Oversee the classroom to ensure a safe and orderly environment for learning
Lesson Delivery: Present pre-prepared work provided by the department to the students
Instructional Support: Explain tasks clearly and assist students with any queries regarding their work
Policy Adherence: Consistently apply the school's behaviour and reward systems
Attendance: Record accurate registers at the beginning of every period
Environment Maintenance: Ensure the classroom is left tidy and ready for the next session
Resource Management: Hand out and collect books, equipment, and finished assignments
Reporting: Provide constructive feedback to the regular teacher regarding student progress and any incidents
Safeguarding: Uphold the highest standards of student welfare and child protection at all times
Flexibility: Adapt to different subject areas across the curriculum on a period-by-period basis
Requirements:
Prior experience working with groups of children (aged 11-16)
The mental strength to handle challenging behaviour with a calm demeanour
Eligibility to work in the UK
Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)
Strong Communication: Ability to speak clearly and authoritatively to large groups
Conflict Resolution: De-escalating tense situations with patience and tact
Time Management: Ensuring lessons start and end promptly
Adaptability: Thinking on your feet when a lesson plan needs slight adjustment
Empathy: Understanding the diverse needs and backgrounds of students
Organisation: Keeping track of multiple sets of work and student data
