Job Description

We would like to share that Xplore, an Ingka Group function focused on exploring new business opportunities and driving innovation, will be establishing a new Xplore Studio in Seoul. Xplore explores new business opportunities and works through partnerships and collaboration to test, learn, and develop new ideas. It was established in September 2024 to help us move faster in a changing environment and to better prepare for future challenges. The Xplore Studio is the key enabler for this assignment, bringing ideas to life by co-creating, prototyping, and validating new solutions—working closer to customers, co-workers, and local culture. Following Barcelona and Copenhagen, the Seoul Xplore Studio is the first of its kind outside Europe, making it a particularly meaningful step. This position will report to Country Expansion & PMO Manager in IKEA Korea Service Office. This global project-based position begins with a one-year temporary contract and there is a possibility of extension with opportunities for advancement into other roles.

Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for in the country setting up, staffing and running studios as an essential part of Xplore ways of working where we collaborate, design, develop, test and accelerate the studio and grow talents, in strong collaboration with the market
  • Responsible for leading implementation of the studio playbook and continuously improve for better output
  • Responsible to in the country establish and lead studio and community in the relevant location to interact, collaborate, design, develop, test, accelerate and showcase new solutions and concepts (in collaboration with co-workers, customers, communities and partners) for the value of the market that hosts the studio, and total IKEA
  • Responsible to in the country develop and deliver interactive programs, workshops and events in close collaboration with Xplore Creative
  • Engage local partners, co-workers and other stakeholder, promoting a culture of speed, simplicity, open innovation and idea sharing
  • Responsible for in the country leading engagement initiatives and facilitation in studio connected to the overall Xplore process (DNS+) and wider IKEA eco-system – how to interact through development year cycle (Development week, 10 jobs etc.)
  • Responsible for in the country building a scalable & cost-efficient testing infrastructure, leveraging both physical and digital capabilities to enable speed, quality, and market relevance while ensuring cost-effective ways to test, develop, and scale new solutions Share learnings and contributions with the extended Xplore Studio network

Requirements

  • Extensive IKEA business knowledge and deep understanding of IKEA decision making management structure and ways of working/processes
  • Expertise in community building and engagement strategies with knowledge of industry trends and best practices
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating creative, design and innovation workshops and events
  • Deep knowledge of strategic design, design thinking, innovation development
  • In-depth knowledge on the Big Shifts, macro-trends, people's evolving needs, wants and desires as well as technologies and new disruptive solutions and business models
  • Minimum of 4+ years of leadership experience in changing and complex environments
  • Proven entrepreneurial experience: Track record of taking ideas all the way to launch
  • A self-starter, who thrive with autonomy and is comfortable working with little direction or oversight and with the ability to prioritize activities and orchestrate teams and resources for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Proven experience in building and accelerating innovation development through external partners and collaborations to reach objectives leveraging make/buy decision-making
  • Ability to engage and inspire stakeholders with narratives, and clearly envision and communicate a desirable future scenario
