The Country Lead / Head of SME & Growth, South Korea is a key part of the commercial leadership team in APAC, responsible for building and leading our business in South Korea. You will drive strategic decision-making, own ambitious commercial outcomes, and ensure alignment with broader regional objectives. You will launch and lead a high-performing commercial team on the ground — acquiring new clients (frontbook), managing and growing existing relationships (backbook), driving upsells and cross-sells, and cementing Airwallex as the partner of choice for Korean businesses in the global banking and payments ecosystem.

Requirements:
8+ years’ experience in commercial leadership roles (e.g. management consulting, sales, revenue growth, or go‑to‑market leadership), including direct P&L ownership and a proven track record of driving cross-functional teams to ambitious targets
Proven ability to build and scale high-performing teams in dynamic, high-growth environments, with a track record of coaching, performance management and fostering strong engagement
Analytical and data-driven approach to strategy and execution, leveraging market and customer insights, funnel metrics and unit economics to optimise commercial outcomes
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and regions, influence global product strategies and represent Airwallex externally with customers and partners
Language: Fluent Korean and strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
Market experience: Demonstrated experience operating in the South Korean market, with a deep understanding of local buyer needs, commercial channels and the broader fintech/payments landscape
Nice to have:
Experience launching and scaling go‑to‑market teams in hyper-growth startups, ideally in fintech, payments, banking, cards or B2B SaaS
A strong network across channels and partnerships relevant to client acquisition (e.g. technology partners, SaaS platforms, agencies, accounting/ERP ecosystems and local distributors)
Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt quickly to evolving market conditions, with innovative problem‑solving skills and a strong bias to action
Experience working with or selling to corporate customers in South Korea, with familiarity across use cases such as global payments, FX, cards and treasury
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for customer meetings, team events and regional/global leadership forums
