We are seeking a dynamic Counter Sales Representative to join a leading electrical distributor in Newmarket, Ontario. In this fast-paced sales role, you will be the face of the business, providing exceptional customer service and innovative solutions to contractors and manufacturers. You will handle technical inquiries, process orders, and strategically upsell high-margin products. Working alongside a collaborative team of industry veterans, you will take ownership of your role and act as a true solution provider without the need for micromanagement. Job Responsibility:

  • Directly service customers via phone, email, and in-person interactions on a daily basis
  • Process daily orders, inquiries, and technical quotations efficiently and accurately
  • Consistently achieve and maintain a remarkably high level of customer service
  • Confirm stock availability and proactively suggest alternative products to meet customer needs
  • Make strategic follow-up calls to customers regarding all outstanding quotations to close sales
  • Assist customers with any inquiries related to the ecommerce platform and digital ordering
  • Greet customers warmly and build lasting professional relationships at the counter
  • Upsell high-margin consumable items to maximize branch profitability
  • Multitask effectively by picking orders, cutting wire, and assisting with warehouse duties as needed
  • Receive incoming shipments and systematically put stock away to maintain inventory accuracy

Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication abilities to foster strong customer and vendor relationships
  • Excellent multitasking and time management capabilities in a high-volume environment
  • Strong computer literacy to navigate digital tools and sales platforms seamlessly
  • Proven ability to prioritize conflicting demands effectively and make quick decisions
  • A team-player mentality with a readiness to assist across all branch functions
  • A competitive, outgoing personality with a genuine desire to learn, grow, and succeed
  • A minimum of two years of dedicated counter sales or customer service experience
  • A self-starter attitude with the ability to take ownership and work without micromanagement
  • Willingness to work flexible, in-office shifts (6:30 AM to 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM)
  • Readiness to participate in one potential Saturday shift per year for physical inventory counts
  • Demonstrated history of reliable tenure and a strong, consistent work ethic
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while acting as a dedicated solution provider

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with AS400 (ERP) and Microsoft Dynamics (CRM) is considered a strong asset
  • Solid product knowledge within the electrical distribution business is highly advantageous
  • Previous experience or knowledge within the electrical industry is strongly preferred
  • Electrical apprenticeship experience is considered a significant advantage for this role
