We are looking for a friendly and reliable Counter Assistant to join our team. As the first point of contact for our customers, you will greet them, take orders, process payments, and ensure they have a positive experience. You will also maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked counter area.
Job Responsibility:
Greet customers warmly, take food/drink orders accurately, and handle inquiries or complaints with a positive attitude
Prepare or serve food/drinks and package takeaways quickly to maximize sales and service flow
Operate the till/POS system, handling cash, credit cards, and providing accurate change and receipts
Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness at the counter, serving areas, and tables
Replenish stock, restock self-serve stations, and follow food rotation practices
Collaborate with kitchen and front of house staff to ensure smooth service, particularly during busy periods
Requirements:
Excellent communication and active listening skills
Friendly, polite, and professional demeanour
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
Basic numeracy skills for cash handling and POS usage
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends
Previous experience in retail or food service is preferred but not essential
Ability to stand for extended periods
