Job Description

The Counsellor 1 in the Early Years Counselling & Consultation (EYCC) Program works as part of an interdisciplinary team to collaboratively identify and address through counselling and psychoeducation the lagging skills identified for children 6 years of age and under and their families.

Requirements

  • SSW, CYW or equivalent – Candidate to be registered with applicable regulatory college where applicable
  • 2 to 3 years practical experience working with children under the age of 6 years
  • Working knowledge and experience treatment planning
  • Experience facilitating psychoeducational clinics and counselling to young children
  • Good communication and organization skills
  • A Current Police Records Check within the last six (6) months
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, use of a vehicle and be insurable to drive in Ontario

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with offering services via virtual platforms (i.e. email, text, online virtual counselling) would be considered an asset
  • If direct virtual supports are unfamiliar then an understanding of the various forms of virtual care, as well as an understanding of clinical and privacy responsibilities would be an asset
  • Bilingual in (French and English) is preferred
  • Experience working with the Indigenous community is an asset
