We are seeking a Counselling Supervisor/Tutor to join our team. In this role you will deliver high-quality supervision and support to trainee counsellors at University Centre Colchester, working with students in both group and one-to-one settings to support the development of their counselling competencies and successful progression within Higher Education programmes. You will contribute to the supervision of counselling students within a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited provision, overseeing a range of practice formats including face-to-face, online (video) and telephone-based work. Supervision will be delivered through a blended approach, incorporating both in-person and remote sessions.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver high-quality supervision and support to trainee counsellors at University Centre Colchester
Work with students in both group and one-to-one settings to support the development of their counselling competencies and successful progression within Higher Education programmes
Contribute to the supervision of counselling students within a BACP accredited provision
Oversee a range of practice formats including face-to-face, online (video) and telephone-based work
Provide general student support where appropriate
Provide comprehensive counselling supervision for students, including record keeping, report writing and pastoral care
Undertake evening work, both on and off-site, as required
Work closely with Programme Leaders to ensure a sustainable and responsive curriculum
Lead on modelling best practice through the development of supervision requirements in support of the Colchester Institute Counselling Services (CICS) Co-ordinator
Support successful student completion of the practical elements of Higher Education Counselling programmes
Contribute to enhancing the quality of programme and subject delivery through the effective use of College quality assurance systems
Apply and promote Colchester Institute Health and Safety policies
Continue to develop and maintain own professional expertise.
Requirements:
Significant experience of working as a Counsellor and Supervisor within a humanistic, person-centred and/or integrative framework
Knowledge and understanding of professional body regulations and requirements
Post-qualified counselling experience
Education to Level 3 or above and/or a professional qualification in a relevant subject area, or equivalent
A minimum Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics, including GCSE Grade 4/C or above, CSE Level 1, O-Level Grade C or above, Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy, or equivalent qualifications
A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Humanistic/Person-Centred Counselling
Accredited registration with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
