Job Description:

The town of West Newbury seeks qualified applicants for the position Council on Aging (COA) Director. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position responsible for directing and overseeing the programs and operations of the Council on Aging.

Job Responsibility:

  • Directing and overseeing the programs and operations of the Council on Aging
  • Outreach and communications
  • Website content management
  • Newsletter production
  • Maintaining mail/email distribution lists
  • Supporting the administration of additional human services and programs serving non-senior residents
  • Occasional evening meetings

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in gerontology, social work, or a related field
  • Three to five years of relevant experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Eligible for bonding
  • Willing to obtain ServSafe and CPR/AED certifications
  • Working knowledge of state and local laws/regulations related to elder services
  • Strong understanding of elder needs and available resources
  • Ability to advocate effectively for older adults
