Job Description:

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Global Project Controls (GPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services. To help us achieve our objectives, growth, and transformation, we are looking for a Cost Management Lead for the AMERS Sub-region portfolio to work alongside the EPC regional leadership to commercially manage all data center construction projects in the region. Job Responsibility:

  • Partner collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and ensure alignment to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Develop, maintain, and report out on project scope, schedule, and budget with cost as the main driver
  • Provide on location commercial management to the projects
  • Management of all commercial issues on all current, future and past projects
  • Detailed estimation of the project based on local design documents
  • Agreement of estimates with the GC
  • Pay application assessment and approval
  • Estimation of and commercial agreement of all change orders
  • Review and agreement of all GC procurement of the subcontract packages
  • Commercial review of all disputes that may arise
  • Review and Approve all invoices for all project vendors
  • Final account agreement & closeout for all vendor accounts
  • Manage the Quantity Surveyor (QS) firm contracted to provide commercial support in the region
  • Assist in the procurement of QS firm
  • Manage the resources allocated to the projects
  • Regular Monthly Business Updates (MBUs) with the cost management firms
  • Cost Reporting
  • Provide the PER (funding) team all commercial support
  • Design Team commercial support
  • Site selection support
  • Commercial Process control

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying related field AND 12+ years related experience OR equivalent experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • 15+ years experience working on data center projects
  • 10+ years project management experience
  • 10+ years people management experience
  • 3+ years of cost management of international projects
  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) full membership or equivalent
  • Understanding of the full Construction Life Cycle

Nice to have:

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field AND 15+ years related experience OR equivalent experience
